Larchmont YC Wins YRA Team Racing Championship

September 20, 2008

Larchmont, NY

Larchmont Yacht Club recaptured the Glencairn Trophy - the combined Varsity and Masters Team Racing Championship of the YRA of Long Island Sound. Competing against teams from New York and Noroton Yacht Clubs, Larchmont YC proved dominant by winning both the Aileen Trophy for the Masters Championship and the Bumble Bee Trophy for the Varsity Championship. This sweep returned the Glencairn Trophy to Larchmont after a year's absence.

Varsity Captain Danny Pletsch and Masters Captain Andy Kaplan both enlisted a solid contingent of Larchmont YC members to take the day. Representing the Masters were Andy Kaplan, Steve Leicht, Rob Dailey, Mark Dailey, Dave Smalley, and Roland Schulz. Representing the Varsity were Danny Pletsch, Allie Padin, Ed du Moulin, Todd Breeden, Thomas Zanios, and Matt Kaplan.

Special thanks go to the Race Committee for getting the most out of the day's dwindling breezes and the Event Team that made the event run like clockwork. Team racing continues to be a vital element of the Larchmont YC sailing program with more and more members getting involved each year.
